US equities closed last week on a weak note, with all of the major indices and all ten sectors of the S&P 500 closing lower on the day. Weakness into a weekend is something that traders rarely like to see as, unless one also positions defensively into the weekend, any follow-through selling the following Monday often can’t be reacted to quickly enough. The week ahead is riddled with economic data points, the big one being the FOMC meeting that starts on Tuesday and ends on Wednesday with the US Federal Reserve’s latest announcement on the state of its monetary policy.
