Why markets have been so choppy so far in 2015

US equities and other markets have been notoriously choppy and the S&P 500 recently reached levels in the choppiness index last seen in 1998. It’s the central  banks, silly! The Fed continues to reiterate its ‘data-dependency’ strategy and investors so far had no reason to believe in an imminent rate hike and freak out by selling stocks, nor in seeing another round of ‘easing’ and thus blindly chasing stocks further into the stratosphere. When will this choppiness end?
