The long Amazon.com (AMZN) versus short Wal-Mart (WMT) stock trade is a popular one among many hedge funds. While the trade makes sense structurally, over the past few months the opposite of this trade has worked. Furthermore, it looks like WMT stock could continue to show both absolute and relative strength versus AMZN stock in the intermediate term.
