Why August is no vacation for traders

It’s August and while those of us with children are already circling the back-to-school date on the calendar, for others this is prime vacation time.
It is also historically a vacation month for much of Wall Street, and one where deal-making and market-making slows down until early September. But while much of the financial media writes August off as a non-event, the fact is that August can see important price action that paves the way for the historically more volatile September and October period.
So, traders and investors would be wise to play August like Chuck Norris would, i.e. resting with one eye open.
