After stocks finished off last week with a celebratory Christmas jam, the bears — who just a few days ago were still pounding their chests — have once again been forced into the fetal position. Such are centrally-dictated markets, which is a structure one must be aware of and traders would be wise to respect.
As we enter this holiday-riddled week, volume is sure to drop off a cliff as market participants will take some time off. US equity markets will close at 13:00 New York time on Thursday and will be closed on Christmas day. As such, I expect very little trading to take place on Friday, which is to say that any meaningful price action this week may very well be concentrated around Monday and Tuesday.
